What a fantastic weekend! AnimeNEXT is my home convention, going all the way back to 2004 when I attended my first convention ever. There's nothing quite like con people and the convention environment, and AnimeNEXT 2004 popped my convention cherry.
I had a table in the Artist Alley and shared the section with some of my favorite AA people. Among the team of us we had your convention needs covered: origami jewelry, super cute Japanese folk lore items, custom anime drawings of yourself or anything you want, and a bunch of random Japanese technique pottery. I helped my friend Angie (Blueberry Crumble Crafts) co-host and run a panel on Saturday called, "Japanese Crafts Made From Recyclables." You got to make your own crafts from toilet paper tubes and egg cartons! It was super clever and the room was packed!
When not at the Artist Alley my other half and I ran around the con to check out all the fun. I always love and appreciate a good show from Cosplay Burlesque and all of their wonderful performers! Our friend Bill co-hosted for the first time and I think he did a good job considering who he was paired with. I always appreciate the variety in body types CPB offers, there is a little something something for everyone!
In conclusion, it was a pleasure to revisit and give back to my home con. Can't wait for next year!
